Iqbal Barkat Ali, MBA, CPHR (he/him)

Iqbal is an organizational effectiveness professional, speaker, trainer and leader with 30 years of diverse experience, including strategic planning, quality assurance, lean management, human resources, employee engagement, leadership development, and culture alignment. He brings 10 years of experience operating as a business consultant.

Iqbal has been a member of 3 executive leadership teams. His leadership philosophy is driven by his core values and beliefs: we are all part of one humanity, and we have the responsibility to make the world a better place. He thrives in roles and organizations where he can collaborate to create an amazing workplace, and in turn, make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of clients, employees and other stakeholders. 

Iqbal began his career in accounting, attained his MBA degree from the University of Calgary,
and is a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR).
He served as a sessional instructor
at Columbia College and Bow Valley College for over 15 years, where he facilitated courses on
HR Management, Labour Relations, Professional Ethics, and Leadership, Team Building and
Conflict Resolution. He is the author of 3 books, including Integrity Matters: Living the Good Life.

Iqbal has developed excellent financial and business acumen, and has facilitated numerous and diverse organizational development initiatives, ranging from… 

  • Conducting marketing research and developing business plans;

  • Analyzing the feasibility of setting-up operations in the United States and Mexico; 

  • Setting up the human resources department and related business infrastructure/processes;

  • Establishing the quality assurance function, including the development of systems to improve quality, reduce waste, increase productivity, and enhance customer satisfaction; 

  • Collaborating with organizational leaders to develop a comprehensive employee engagement strategy; and

  • Spearheading the Best Place to Work strategic initiative and achieving a 20% increase in staff satisfaction results.
